COVID-19On Tuesday April 28th,the Black Hawk County Health Department identified a discrepancy in the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in the County. The health department identified an error that caused cases with negative test results to remain open in the state surveillance system (rather than automatically close). All cases with negative test results have been removed from the number of reported cases in the County. As of April 29th,2020 at 10:00 am the revised total of cases is 1,326. The number of reported deaths was not affected by this issue, and one additional death was reported for a total of 13 deaths in the County.

COVID-19Today, Gov. Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration until May 27, 2020. The proclamation loosens social distancing measures in 77 Iowa counties (all counties except Allamakee, Benton, Black Hawk, Bremer, Dallas, Des Moines, Dubuque, Fayette, Henry, Iowa, Jasper, Johnson, Linn, Louisa, Marshall, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Tama, Washington, or Woodbury County) effective Friday, May 1 and continues other restrictions until 11:50 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020.
