Black Hawk County Public Health has released the COVID-19 After Action Report summarizing the local pandemic response and documenting key takeaways from the experience. Coll Consulting, LLC was commissioned by the Public Health department to collect information for the report, including conducting interviews and surveys with staff, as well as health and response partners.
The report includes a comprehensive timeline and narrative of the COVID-19 response efforts in Black Hawk County and provides recommendations on how to be better prepared for future public health emergencies.
After having marked the third anniversary of the pandemic, Deputy Director Kaitlin Emrich notes that the hallmark of public health is continuous learning and improvement. “After Action Reports are critical tools to help reflect on how we responded to an event and put measures into place to be better prepared for the next event,” Emrich said. “Throughout and after the COVID-19 response, Black Hawk County Public Health was continuously learning and adapting to the needs of our community. This report will help us document what worked well and identify areas of improvement.”
