Accreditation through PHAB demonstrates the Health Department’s capacity to carry out the essential public health services, manage an effective health department, maintain consistent communications with the governing entity, and have a strong commitment to serving the community.

Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine has been approved for children ages 5-11. In Black Hawk County, the vaccine for children 5 through 11 years of age will initially be available through MercyOne, UnityPoint Health, and Peoples Community Health Clinic. Residents are urged to call their child's health provider to schedule vaccine.
